Horse rugs are heavy, filthy work for any home machine — and most simply can't take the weight. Sudzone's dedicated rear washing area has an 18KG washer and a 34KG reversible tumble dryer built for exactly this job, completely separate from our regular laundry machines. We're one of the few laundromats in Melbourne's southeast set up for horse rugs.
Commercial-grade Speed Queen machines handle canvas and synthetic rugs that would destroy a domestic washer. The 34KG reversible dryer stops heavy rugs from balling up, so they dry evenly. And the dedicated area means no mess or hair left behind for other customers — or for your household washing.
1. Brush off dried mud and loose hair first, and buckle any straps so they don't catch. 2. Load the 18KG washer in the pet and rug area at the rear of the shop — $12 per wash, paid by card, app or coins. 3. Tumble dry in the 34KG reversible dryer at $1 per 4.5 minutes, or take it home wet to line-dry.
Yes — most canvas and synthetic rugs are machine washable in a commercial machine. Check the rug's care instructions, and avoid machine washing rugs with damaged waterproof membranes if you plan to re-waterproof them.
$12 per wash in the 18KG machine, and drying is $1 per 4.5 minutes in the 34KG dryer. Most rugs wash and dry for under $20.
No booking needed — we're open 6am to 11pm, seven days. You can check machine availability live on our website before you drive in.
